    Calponin [CALP]

Description Calponin is a smooth muscle specific, actin-, tropomyosin- and calmodulin-binding protein thought to be involved in regulation of actomyosin as well as the regulation or modulation of contraction. It is expressed on smooth muscle cells and myoepithelial cells. Calponin has been used to identify invasion of breast lesion. Additionally, Calponin is expressed on malignant fibrous histiocytoma of bone and adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland. The consistently positive staining pattern in adenoid cystic carcinomas may be useful in discriminating histologically similar but consistently negative polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinomas (Shipping Cost: €200.00)

    Calprotectin [CPT/1028]

Description Expressed by macrophages in chronic inflammations. Also expressed in epithelial cells constitutively or induced during dermatoses. Calcium-binding protein. Has antimicrobial activity towards bacteria and fungi. Important for resistance to invasion by pathogenic bacteria. Up-regulates transcription of genes that are under the control of NF-kappa-B. Plays a role in the development of endotoxic shock in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (By similarity). Promotes tubulin polymerization. Promotes phagocyte migration and infiltration of granulocytes at sites of wounding. Plays a role as pro-inflammatory mediator in acute and chronic inflammation and up-regulates the release of IL8 and cell-surface expression of ICAM1. Extracellular calprotectin binds to target cells and promotes apoptosis. Antimicrobial and proapoptotic activity is inhibited by zinc ions. (Shipping Cost: €200.00)

    Calretinin [CALB2/2685]

Description Calretinin is an intracellular calcium-binding protein belonging to the troponin C superfamily characterized by a structural motif described as the EF-hand domain. The immunohistochemical detection of calretinin in developing cerebellum is restricted to the later stages indicated by weak staining from week 21 of gestation, in Purkinje and basket cells and in neurons of the dentate nucleus. The intensity of staining increases as the cerebellum matures. In tumors, calretinin has been detected in mesothe liomas and some pulmonary adenocarcinomas. (Shipping Cost: €200.00)

    Carbonic Anhydrase IX/CA IX [CA9/781]

Description Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a cell surface transmembrane protein, which is predominantly found in the gastrointestinal tract and gall bladder. The glandular regions of normal colon are reported to be negative, but in the case of adenocarcinoma, the glands are positive. CAIX is also reported to be expressed in common epithelial tumors such as carcinomas of the esophagus, lung, colon, kidney, cervix, and non-small cell lung carcinoma. In breast carcinomas, CAIX expression has been reported to be associated with malignant tissue. Expression of CAIX is reported to be absent in normal kidney, chromophobe carcinomas or oncocytomas, however, it is specifically expressed in clear cell renal carcinoma (Shipping Cost: €200.00)

    Caspase 3 (active/pro) [31A1067]

Description Caspases are a family of cysteine proteases that are key mediators of programmed cell death or apoptosis. The precursor form of all caspases is composed of a prodomain, and large and small catalytic subunits. The active forms of caspases are generated by several stimuli including ligand-receptor interactions, growth factor deprivation and inhibitors of cellular functions. All known caspases require cleavage adjacent to aspartates to liberate one large and one small subunit, which associate into a2b2 tetramer to form the active enzyme. Gene for Caspase 3 also known as Yama, CPP32, and apopain codes for a 32-kDa protein. Caspase 3 cleaves the death substrate poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) to a specific 85 kDa form observed during apoptosis and is inhibitable by the CrmA protein. Other Caspase 3 substrates include DNA-PK, actin, GAS2, and procaspase-6, etc. Caspase 3 is activated by cleavage events at Asp-28/Ser-29 (between N-terminal pro-domain) and Asp-175/Ser-176 (between large an
