    Neurofilament phospho (NF-H) [NE14]

Description This antibody reacts with a 200kDa protein, identified as heavy sub-unit of neurofilaments (NF-H). It reacts specifically with the phosphorylated KSP/KEP segment at the C-terminus of the heavy subunit (NF-H) of neurofilaments. After dephosphorylation of neurofilaments with alkaline phosphatase, this antibody no longer binds. Neurofilaments make up the main structural elements of axons and dendrites and are found in neurons, peripheral nerves, and sympathetic ganglion cells. Neurofilaments consist of three major subunits with molecular weights of 68kDa (NF-L), 160kDa (NF-M) and 200kDa (NF-H). Anti-neurofilament stains a number of neural, neuroendocrine, and endocrine tumors. Neuromas, ganglioneuromas, gangliogliomas, ganglioneuroblastomas, and neuroblastomas stain positively for anti-neurofilament. Neurofilaments are also present in paragangliomas as well as adrenal and extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas. Carcinoids, neuroendocrine carcinomas of the skin, and oat cell carcinomas of the lun

    Neuron Specific Enolase (NSE) [5E2]

Description NSE is specifically detected in neurons and neurodendocrine cells, and their corresponding tumors. Anti-NSE antibody is a useful marker for identification of peripheral nerves, neural and neuroendocrine tumors, such as neuroblastomas, retinoblastomas, desmoplastic melanoma, and small cell lung carcinoma when used with a panel of antibodies (e.g. keratin, chromgranin A, synaptophysin, and neurofilaments). Neuropeptide Y/NPY [8]

Description Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a member of a regulatory peptide family including pancreatic polypeptide (PP) and peptide YY (PYY) as well. It is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase, regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. NM23-H1 [NM301]

Description Non-metastatic protein 23 homolog 1; also NDKA or NM23-H1 is a 19‑20 kDa member of the NDK family of enzymes. NM23-H1 is ubiquitous in expression and performs multiple functions. It forms disulfide-linked homohexamers, and heterohexamers with NM23-H2, generating a nucleoside diphosphate kinase that catalyzes a phosphoryl transfer from ATP to a nucleoside diphosphate. It also shows His and Ser/Thr protein kinase activity and forms covalent linkages with molecules diverse as p53 and STRAP. It is found both intracellularly and in blood at ng/mL concentrations. Human NM23-H1 is 152 amino acids (aa) in length, contains one NDP kinase domain (aa 5‑134), and shows acetylation at Ala2 and Lys56, plus phosphorylation at Tyr52, Thr94, Ser122, and Ser125. Human NM23-H1 shares 89% aa identity with human 17‑18 kDa NM23-H2. The NM23 gene, a potential suppressor of metastasis, was originally identified by differential hybridization between two murine melanoma sub-lines, one with a high and the second
