    Cathepsin D [CTSD/3082]

Description Cathepsin D is a ubiquitously expressed lysosomal protease that is involved in proteolytic degradation, cell invasion, and apoptosis. It is suspected to play important roles in protein catabolism, antigen processing, degenerative diseases, and cancer progression. Cathepsin D is present in many types of cancer cells. In breast cancer, it is induced by estrogens and its expression is correlated with a higher risk of metastasis and poor disease-free survival. Extensive studies have been also performed to evaluate the clinical and therapeutic implication of Cathepsin D expression in nongynecological solid tumors. Although conflicting results have been observed in some reports, evidence emerging from these studies indicated that Cathepin D seems to facilitate early stages of tumor progression such as cell proliferation and local dissemination. NeuN [A60]

Description NeuN antibody specifically recognizes the DNA-binding, neuron-specific protein NeuN, which is present in most CNS and PNS neuronal cell types of all vertebrates tested. NeuN protein distributions are apparently restricted to neuronal nuclei, perikarya and some proximal neuronal processes in both fetal and adult brain although, some neurons fail to be recognized by NeuN at all ages: INL retinal cells, Cajal-Retzius cells, Purkinje cells, inferior olivary and dentate nucleus neurons, and sympathetic ganglion cells are examples. Immunohistochemically detectable NeuN protein first appears at developmental timepoints that correspond with the withdrawal of the neuron from the cell cycle and/or with the initiation of terminal differentiation of the neuro. Immunoreactivity appears around E9.5 in the mouse neural tube and is extensive throughout the developing nervous system by E12.5. Strong nuclear staining suggests a nuclear regulatory protein function; however, no evidence currently exists a

    Tuberin/TSC2 Polyclonal

Description Tuberous sclerosis (TSC) is a human genetic disorder characterized by mental retardation and the widespread development of benign and infrequently malignant tumors in a variety of tissues. Two different genetic loci have been linked to TSC; one of these loci, the tuberous sclerosis-2 gene (TSC2), encodes a protein 1784 amino acids in length, called tuberin. Tuberin exhibits a region of limited homology to the catalytic domain of Rap1 GAP. Subcellular fractionation studies have shown tuberin to be predominantly localized in membrane fractions. Tuberin is capable of stimulating the intrinsic GTPase activity of Rap 1A, but not Rap 2, H-Ras, Rac or Rho. TSC2 maps to human chromosome 16 and is associated with several intragenic mutations in affected patients. The mouse homolog of the tuberin gene maps to chromosome 17. (Shipping Cost: €200.00)
